The FoodRemedy Cooking School
Wholefood Chef, Fanny Binder and Nutritional Therapist, Tara Zuluaga Dorgan created The FoodRemedy cooking school due to a growing need for practical, hands-on education for individuals ready to make a lasting difference in their health story through diet. The two ‘Gutsy Chef’s’ are passionate about food and health and their classes have combined real food and the culinary arts with nutritional science. The FoodRemedy is the leading culinary medicine cooking school in Ireland inspiring wellness through wholefoods that nourish the body and mind.
If you are a health care professional, a chef, a foodie, or anyone with a passion for food, nutrition and wellness or you are someone with a medical condition with a desire to take your health journey into your own hands, you are in the right place!
At the FoodRemedy, the intention is to inspire and ignite a love of real food, get creative in the kitchen and help people find their own path to wellness. Our classes reverberate the concept that everyone is biochemically unique and there is no one right way to health. All the classes and courses are designed to provide a deeper understanding of food choices and impart a confidence to cook delicious food in balance to maintain health physically, mentally and emotionally.
The school does not follow one particular diet (everybody has their own food journey), however, all classes are free of dairy, gluten and refined sugar by default providing an anti-inflammatory baseline.
“The GutRemedy Programme”
The FoodRemedy has a special interest in gut health, the human microbiome and the interplay between everything else in the body. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, said over 2000 years ago, “All disease begins in the gut.” Today, researchers and scientists are proving many chronic metabolic diseases do, in fact, begin in the gut. University College Cork is producing some top research through the APC Microbiome institute specifically looking at the Gut-Brain-Microbiota axis or more simply the communication between our gut and our brain and the influence that the microbiota has on that communication.
Fanny and Tara have developed a new 20 week ‘GutRemedy programme. This programme is focused on foods and recipes that support a healthier gut. It is a practical application of the “Five R” framework (Remove, Replace, Repair, Reinoculate, Rebalance) used in functional medicine and the principles of the Microbiome diet. Each class contains loads of information based around the latest research as well as the Gutsy chefs’ personal and clinical experience. Tara and Fanny will prepare 4 nutritious, real, wholefoods recipes (including generous tasters) to help heal the gut and support optimal health. This program was created as a response to growing list of gut-related health concerns and conditions, such as inflammation, skin issues, allergies, migraines, cardiovascular disease, GERD, leaky gut, IBS, obesity, anxiety, auto-immune conditions, among other stressors.
