Let’s Graze! Winter Salads
07 November 17 | 7 pm
Sprouts; SuperFood For The Winter
Sprouts can be made with many different types of grains, spices, seeds and pulses. They are packed with nutrients and may contain more than 100 times more enzymes than fruits and vegetables. Germination requires soaking the seeds in water to allow them to sprout, once activated the live enzymes are potent health-promoting factors for proper digestion and overall wellness. Sprouts are a living, natural, inexpensive food (from 1tsp of alfalfa seeds you can “harvest” almost a full jar of sprouts, lasting you a good few days).
The vitamin A content will usually double, various B group vitamins will be 5 – 10 times higher, and vitamin C will increase by a similar order when seeds and pulses are sprouted. They also contain calcium, iron and phytochemicals. When sprouting the protein becomes easier digestible and the beans and seeds are like a pre-digested food easy on your system.
Sprouts are an amazing SuperFood and should be included in every meal this winter.
